My Current K-Beauty Skincare Routine (2021) + discounts for you!

We already know I’m the biggest K-Beauty stan of 2021, almost my entire skincare routine is filled with products from K-beauty lines.

It’s no secret that K-beauty has quickly become a favourite of so many skincare consumers all around the world – particularly for their natural and gentle ingredients, adorable packaging and value for money. Even if you’re not a fan of the typical “glass skin” look, there’s something in K-Beauty for everyone.

I love the ‘matte’ finish and I still use K-Beauty skincare as well as makeup products, so I am living proof that it can be for anyone.

MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

SOME BY MI – Bye Bye Blemish Vita Tox Brightening Bubble Cleanser

What the heck is a bubble cleanser?

This Bye Bye Blemish Vita Tox Brightening Bubble Cleanser is so unique and special, formulated with goheung yuja extract, geju green tangerine extract and 18 kinds of vitamins and Vita oxygen bubbles! It gives a really interesting bubbly texture on the skin and side note – it smells amazing! An extremely fresh and citrusy scent, I use this all the time in the mornings.

COSRX – AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner

I’m a huge fan of COSRX and I’ve tried a lot of their products. I particularly like their AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner.

First of all, it comes in a convenient spray bottle and I am all about convenience when getting ready in the morning. The spritz is very light and misty, I love it. Secondly, the toner itself is great, I feel very fresh and my skin isn’t left with an awful greasy feeling which I generally hate.

I only use this toner in the mornings as I like something a bit more moisturising at night time.

ETUDE HOUSE – Soon Jung 10-Free Moist Emulsion

The ever popular Soon Jung range from Etude House belongs in many user’s holy grail collection. I completely get why!

The Soon Jung 10-Free Moist Emulsion is a great day moisturiser, fantastic for oily and sensitive skin because of its very gentle ingredient list and 0 fragrance. I’ve bought this emulsion-moisturiser twice and I love it! It is hypoallergenic, contains a low pH value and is made of 93% natural ingredients!

I also love the bottle – it looks like glass but is actually plastic which is handy for travel or if you’re just a butter-fingers like myself. The product absorbs extremely quickly into the skin which makes it perfect for applying makeup afterwards.

COSRX – Aloe Soothing Sun Cream

I am personally very picky with sunscreen because of my oily skin as well as because I wear makeup almost everyday – so whatever sunscreen I commit to during that day has to be absolutely perfect. This sunscreen is said to be suitable for face and body. SPF50 is a must in sunny Singapore!

The COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream is close enough for me! One thing I love about this is actually how it smells, I know a lot of people don’t like sunscreens with fragrances but I looooove the smell! It also has no white cast at all and is not greasy, which is great.

EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

Hada Labo – Gokujyun Oil Cleanser

Hada Labo has been such a raved-about brand within Singapore’s drug store skincare ranges and I had to try something from them. As an everyday-makeup-wearer, oil cleansers are very important to me!

The Gokujyun Oil Cleanser is a very nice lightweight oil cleanser that I’ve almost finished using. As someone who switches up their cleansing oil every couple of months, I can say that this is a great starter cleansing oil as it is not too thick, and very easy to wash off. It is also effective at removing makeup!

This isn’t my favourite oil cleanser of all time but I would say it is indeed a good one.

Dear, Klairs – Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish

I love me some exfoliation! As someone who wears makeup very often and has mild hygiene OCD, I really love scrubs!

The Dear Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish is a repurchase after repurchase! I especially like it because it is a sugar scrub, and I love sugar scrubs for both my body and face. Some of the ingredients include shea butter, black sugar and cranberry oil – all very hydrating and soothing for the skin.

Add this sugar scrub with a few drops of water before using it on your skin and it will form a lovely emulsified liquid.

Goodal – Apple AHA Clearing Pad

I found this clearing pad as a recommendation from TikTok (are we surprised?) and I love it!

Goodal’s Apple AHA Clearing Pad is something I use 3-4 times a week after I cleanse my face. The pads itselves are shaped like little apples, which I love, and they smell like apples too!

This peeling pad is a gentle exfoliator that removes dead skin cells and impurities for a clearer, healthier complexion. It is rich in AHA to help exfoliate the skin without destroying the skin barrier which is very very important in any AHA product. It is also known to minimise pores!

SOME BY MI – Snail Truecica Miracle Repair Toner

I can’t say enough good things about Some By Mi’s Snail Trucica line. I never thought I’d be such a fan of snail-based products, but I love this range so much!

Some By Mi’s Snail Truecica Miracle Repair Toner is a great every-day and every-night toner. The truecica ingredient soothes skin and strengthens the skin barrier, all whilst healing your damaged skin with black snail extract. It is also great for acne scarring as snail extract is known to promote skin regeneration.

You only need a small splash to cover your face, and the scent that comes with this toner is extremely soothing – almost like a spa-like essential oil. Would definitely rate this as one of my all-time favourite toners.

SOME BY MI – Propolis B5 Glow Barrier Calming Serum

I know I must totally sound like a broken record with my Some By Mi praise at this point, and I swear they aren’t sponsoring me although I wish they did – but THEY HAVE SUCH GREAT PRODUCTS!

I only recently introduced a prospolis product into my skincare routine as I hadn’t heard much about it before TikTok introduced it to me. Propolis has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties which is helpful in wound healing. The Propolis B5 Glow Barrier Calming serum is chock-filled with propolis and honey extract.

The fragrance isn’t my favourite but it doesn’t linger on the skin, so it doesn’t bother me much!

SOME BY MI – 30 Days Miracle Tea Tree Clear Spot Oil

If I have any active breakouts, I know a tea tree oil is the product for me.

Some By Mi’s 30 Days Miracle Tea Tree Clear Spot Oil is such a handy item to have in your skincare drawer for those days where you need some extra special treatment for an active breakout. It smells lovely and as we all know, tea tree is great at helping to kill the bacteria present in a fresh pimple.

The best thing about this tea tree oil is that it can be used daily and won’t dry out your skin because of panthenol and allantoin – 2 very moisturising ingredients that you don’t usually find in spot control oils.

If this item is not available for you to purchase because of location, The Body Shop’s tea tree oil is also a close second but costs slightly more.

SPECIAL MENTIONS – FACE MASKS

I’m from – Mugwort Mask

If I’m looking to be a bit more moisturised that evening, I’ll wear a face mask after cleansing my face and before I start to use my toner.

The Mugwort Mask from I’m From is a great hydrating mask with the ever-so-popular ingredient – mugwort! This product is a wash-off mask containing 2.1% mugwort leaf powder from Ganghwa, Korea that helps to soothe skin and hydrate. It is enriched with other botanical extracts to treat skin problems and refine skin texture for clear and smooth skin.

The texture is gel-like, which is interesting and lightweight, and it also smells like a herbal shop. I really like it and a little goes a long way!

innisfree – Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

If I feel like I need some extra pore-cleansing that night, the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask is my go-to!

Clay masks are definitely my favourite type of mask as an oily-skinned gal. This little tub contains a deep-cleansing formula with volcanic clusters that draw out toxins and impurities – this is very useful if you have oily skin and wear makeup! Made with volcanic ash, glycerin and kaolin, this mask not only draws out impurities and dirt, but it also won’t dry you out.

One small 100ml tub seems to have lasted me months!

innisfree – Super Volcanic Peel Off Mask 2X

Not everyone enjoys a peel-off mask but I do! I love having the squeaky-clean feeling after a makeup routine or shower, so this mask is perfect for me. And no washing off required – great for lazy nights where you don’t want to troop back to the bathroom.

Innisfree’s Super Volcanic Peek Off Mask is a great starter peel off mask for those of you who want to get into it as it doesn’t tug and pull like crazy and hurt the skin. It is gentle enough to not leave my skin red and sensitive after.

Made with jeju volcanic clusters, this is great for controlling oil production.
